Yoga for Men

Though yoga may primarily be seen as a woman’s fitness method. Often times known by it’s ability to make one look deeper into themselves through meditation and asanas (slow movements). It is usually thought to be too feminine for men. However, this simply isn’t true! Despite the fact that most men don’t identify the masculinity of yoga, there are some men who have found that yoga is a viable method of exercise.

This is especially true for any men who might want leaner muscles, or a low-impact way of getting fit. However, the ratio of women to men practicing yoga is astounding. There are many men who aren’t reaping the benefits of yoga. But once they do, they are always impressed with the added control they will receive of their own bodies. Remember, yoga isn’t just a sissy sport! It is a great way to add to your weight-lifting routine, practicing asana’s to help to control any physical irregularities you might have, as well as concentration. All of which can help even the beefiest of sports players! Yoga is known to help even some professional golfers with their swings, and loosen any tightness that might be formed due to weight training. Thus easing your muscles and tendons back into their rightful place (and easing any pain you might feel due to hard-workouts!).

Another reason to practice yoga even if you are a man, is simply because it can be done at any age. Whether you are a young male, or an older man; there are benefits to be found for everyone. Yoga practiced by men can help to increase flexibility, relax your muscles, reduce stress, and aid in any diseases such as Osteoporosis and heart conditions. All of which are boasted by modern-medicine as reasons for women and men alike to bring yoga into their lives.

Still too masculine to practice yoga? Think of it this way. You probably have taken home-ec in middle school. Of which was probably chosen to be around all of those pretty women! Now is your chance to surround yourself with women, who have a heart and health conscious mind! However, you won’t be the only man in class! Yoga for men is gaining popularity! Bring your whole football team, baseball team, or even your weight-lifting buddies in for a yoga class!
