Correcting Posture Through Yoga 2

Despite that many people put back-health and proper posture on the back-burner in life. It is of the utmost importance to maintain proper alignment of your body during all daily activity. In other words, it is extremely important that you practice good posture throughout your daily routine. However, you might not yet know exactly how to go about correcting your posture.

Since day one in our lives, we are taught to slouch in front of the television. This lounging around that has been embedded in our brains since birth, can become our body’s undoing. For this reason it has become habit to slouch whenever we are sitting, standing, doing homework, working at a desk, or any other daily tasks that must get done.

While many doctors will simply give you a regiment to follow, along with pain medications, or a trip to the chiropractor. This simply isn’t enough for you to un-learn the many bad posture habits you have learned over the years. For this reason, many holistic doctors (and some traditional doctors) have begun to suggest yoga for correcting one’s posture. While you might not think that yoga will help you in correcting your posture. It has been shown that the many different controlled poses of yoga, intermingle tightly with how one carries themselves (posture).

However, when yoga isn’t always an option during your work day you should still bring all of the teachings into your daily life. For example: if you find yourself slouching at any point during the day. You should immediately correct it to reduce the amount of strain on your body as a whole. You will either stand or sit at a ninety degree angle, with your muscles relaxed. Shoulders rotated slightly back. This will help you to keep your posture even outside of your yoga class or sessions. Remember, whether you are sitting or standing good posture is key to helping any joint or back pain.

While many people still do not grasp the concept of good posture. A few lessons of yoga will do your body good. It will help you to become more attuned to your body, and any pain that you might feel. Allowing you to find the perfect posture for you. Another such positive effect yoga has on your posture, is that you will be working you core. Strengthening your abdominal muscles is key in good posture. It will allow your abs to pick up their slack, reducing the strain on your lower back.
