Yoga is a fantastic entire-body workout for many reasons. It strengthens the muscles and body's core through weight bearing exercises, it works the cardiovascular system in an efficient and low-impact fashion, and it even helps reduce stress and improve emotional well-being through the use of breathing exercises and meditative practices. If you have ever thought of yoga as just another form of exercise, then you are probably missing out on the best parts. Breathing and yoga practices can bring a whole new awareness and health to your life. There are many reasons for the benefits behind breathing and yoga. For thousands of years, individuals have found peace and mental health in yoga and meditation breathing exercises. The right breathing can help reduce stress, release positive endorphins in the brain, clear the mind and deliver more oxygen to the body. These benefits are often linked to long life, more focus, better sleep, better production at work and more peace at home. It's no wonder people are taking up yoga and using the breathing and yoga exercises throughout their days to improve their lives. There are a couple of different types of breathing and yoga exercises and each is quite easy to learn and perform. The first is often referred to as "belly breathing". This breathing exercise takes some practice, but is very beneficial and simple to do once you have mastered it. The best way to learn it is to stand, with your hand on your belly. When you take a breath in, you should push your belly out and fill it with air. When you exhale, you should contract your stomach and feel it tightening as the air is released. This style of breathing is beneficial because it delivers more oxygen to the brain and the body, and has a very natural calming effect. Try this breathing technique when you are stressed about a work project or having trouble falling asleep. Another popular breathing and yoga exercise is "nose breathing". This exercise is believed to warm up the muscles of the body and it has been proven to release endorphins in the brain. This exercise can be performed sitting down or standing up. First, take a nice deep breath through your mouth and let it out through your nose. When you release the breath, make a humming sound with your nose. This humming sound creates a vibration in the nasal cavity, which naturally reduces stress and improves mood. Try this breathing exercise before any workout or whenever you are feeling bogged down or depressed. These two breathing and yoga exercises are both beneficial and
it is a great idea to try them together when you have mastered them
both alone. They can help reduce anxiety and insomnia without the
negative effects of medication, they can help keep you focused without
the crash of coffee or energy drinks, and best of all, these breathing
and yoga exercises are free. Plus they can be performed anywhere,
at the office, in the elevator, in your car, in front of the TV
and in bed. You just might be surprised what breathing and yoga
exercises can really do for your life.
